Chamber Music Classes

11 – 13 July 2022

Chamber Music Classes will be held in El Cerrito, CA

These Chamber Music Classes will take place from July 11 through 13, 2022 at Hillside Swedenborgian Church in El Cerrito, CA

Although this is not a residential workshop, we anticipate there will still be opportunities for string campers to reconnect with camp friends and maybe make new connections too.

There will be 3 one-and-a-half-hour sessions per day, and each session will be coached by Cathy Allen and/or Marion Crombie. You can request as many or as few sessions as you like. (Your sessions will be confirmed once all applications have been received and groups have been formed).

See the application form for the times of the sessions.

There are two ways to apply:

  1. If you already have a quartet or trio and would like to apply as a pre-formed group*, then please ask every member of the group to send in an application. You may choose your own music if you like, or we can make an assignment.
*a pre-formed group should preferably be a quartet, and definitely no bigger than a quintet, which plays together regularly. If you want us to assign the music you will need to let us know which pieces you have played recently

  2. Or you can apply as an individual, in which case we would match you with other players of similar experience.

The cost per session is $45. Please include a deposit check for $45 with your application – it will not be deposited until your place is confirmed following the application deadline of May 23. The balance (if any) will be billed later, once all the groups have been formed.

These sessions are suitable for beginners or experienced players since we will match people with others of appropriate experience. Music will be sent out ahead of time.

The maximum number of players per session will be 8, and since priority is given to creating viable ensembles, it may not always be possible to satisfy everyone’s first choice of time slot! The more flexible you can be, the more likely we are to be able to find you a group!

I have thoroughly enjoyed all your Zoom sessions this year, but yesterday's was the best yet and really enlightening for me, as I have been really struggling with double-stopping.
